Welcome to the Careers Department at Skipton Girls’ High School Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG)
Skipton Girls’ High School offers high quality careers advice and guidance, to support our high achieving and ambitious students. We are committed to providing a planned programme of careers education and information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) for all students throughout the school and particularly at key transition points.
In line with the statutory guidance (click here), we firmly believe that every child should leave school prepared for life in today’s society. High quality, independent careers guidance is crucial in helping pupils emerge from school more fully rounded and ready for the world of work. Young people want and need to be well-informed when making subject and career decisions. We consistently aim to fulfil this obligation and ensure our students develop high aspirations and consider a broad range of career options.
We employ a professionally qualified, independent Careers Adviser, Mrs Crowther, who is in school every Tuesday and Wednesday and who also attends Parents’ Evenings and Option Evenings. During Year 11 every student is invited to attend a Careers Interview with her where they will receive independent, impartial and realistic information, advice and guidance and an Action Plan. Students from all years are entitled to careers support and can request an appointment with Mrs Crowther at any time throughout the year.
Tracy Harris comes into school on a Wednesday, you can drop in to see her at break, lunchtime or at the end of the school day. Alternatively, please feel free to email her on: tharris@hhs.nsat.org.uk
Up to date information, tips and advice can be found on our Virtual Learning Environment Firefly
