Our School
The pupil premium is additional funding given to schools so that they can support their disadvantaged pupils and close the attainment gap between them and their peers. It was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals (FSM) at any point in the last six years. Looked after children and those of service personnel also attract funding.
Schools are free to spend this additional money in whichever way they think will best improve outcomes for these groups of children. Greatwood Community Primary and Nursery School regularly assesses the needs of these pupils, and provides support both academically and pastorally where appropriate.
We are required to publish how this money is spent in our school and the impact it has had. Please click on the links below to read more about how we spend Pupil Premium money at Greatwood Community Primary and Nursery School.
We organise teaching and learning at Greatwood in order to meet the needs of all children in the best way.
We ensure that the appropriate provision is made for children who belong to vulnerable groups and that social disadvantaged children have their needs adequately assessed and met.
We recognise that not all children who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged and we also recognise that not all children that are disadvantaged have free school meals.
We allocate Pupil Premium funding to support any child whom we have identified as being socially disadvantaged and should be making better progress.
We will allocate Pupil Premium funding after needs analysis to identify priority groups and individuals.

Who is eligible for Free School Meals?
Under the government’s Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme, all children in schools up to the end of Year 2 can have a free school lunch. However, it is important that any child who is eligible for Free School Meals anyway is registered as such immediately so that the school does not miss out on crucial additional funding.
You can apply for free school meals if you receive any of the following benefits:
