Description:

Northern Star Academies Trust seek to recruit the very best people to work across our Trust Partnership. We are looking for a Trustee with extensive experience of HR leadership to chair our People & Culture committee.

This is a voluntary role with variable hours, you will be involved in:

  • 6 meetings per year, one per half term on a Friday afternoon
  • 3 evening meetings per year (on Teams)
  • Preparation time and meetings with key Trust staff members as required

The purpose of the board of trustees is to:

  • Provide strategic leadership of the academy trust. Your role is to help set and embed the trust’s vision and strategy and use these to monitor how the trust and its schools are progressing towards their strategic goals.
  • Provide accountability and seek assurance so that the board has robust oversight of the operations and performance of the trust, including education, pupil welfare and finance
  • Support and grow the trust’s engagement with key stakeholders. You'll make sure the trust is communicating with and involving parents, pupils, staff and local communities, so that decision-making is supported and understood.

The time commitment for the trustee role will vary. However, all trustees must attend up to 6 meetings of the full board per year. The term of office is 4 years.

You will also be required to chair 3 meetings of the People & Culture committee per year (on Teams).Preparation for meetings includes reading papers and preparing questions for the executive team.

You will also be expected to undertake any training required to enable you to discharge your role effectively.

Trustees are also asked to meet with key stakeholders when required to ensure engagement and oversight.
